“Acadian Ambulance Service”
Thursday, August 25, 2016

“Acadian Ambulance Service” On occasion due to the number of EMS calls and depletion of ambulances, Alamo heights EMS relies on a private ambulance company to provide transport of the sick and injured to area hospitals. The use of private ambulances has occurred for many years to back up our service during higher call volumes. The resent sale of the company we used for many years has necessitated the Alamo Heights sign a new agreement with a different provider which is Acadian Ambulance Service. Acadian offers an equivalent service that you are used to getting. The following is a list of some of the things you may see different if Acadian were to transport you to a local emergency room: · There will most likely be a first responder fire truck with personnel from Alamo heights, Olmos Park or Terrell Hills that arrives at your location before Acadian arrives (dependent on call volume) to stabilize the patient. · Acadian will bill you through their agency at their rates. · If Acadian transports you to an emergency room, you will NOT receive a bill from Alamo Heights EMS. · Acadian will file your insurance claim and all billing goes through Acadian including questions about your bill. · There is a letter of agreement between Acadian Ambulance and Alamo Heights EMS but there is no financial contract between our two agencies – i.e. – if Acadian transports, they will charge the patient directly. However, there may be some charge should any supplies be used and the patient is NOT transported to an area emergency room.
