“Holiday Time Means Extra Fire Safety” With the colder weather and the holiday season approaching, it’s important to remember some important safety tips. While holiday decorations add to the festive season, they can also be an issue regarding the “fire safety” of your home. Practicing these few safety tips can be instrumental in decreasing your chances of a fire or an injury. Did you know; • Heating equipment is a leading cause of home fire deaths. • Half of home heating equipment fires are reported during the months of December, January, and February. • On average, 29 home candle fires were reported per day. • December is the peak time of year for home candle fires. • In December, 11% of home candle fires began with decorations compared to 4% the rest of the year. • Residents of Alamo Heights can request a free “Home Safety Fire Inspection” by calling 210-832-2241 or emailing [email protected] Please take a few moments to review the safety information provided by the attached flyers.
