Buddy Kuhn

Chief Kuhn began working for the Alamo Heights Fire Department as the assistant fire chief in January 2009. In July 2010, he was appointed to the position of fire chief. Prior to entering the fire service, Chief Kuhn worked in high-rise building construction installing elevators. In 1992, he began working for the Terrell Hills Fire Department, where he promoted through the ranks to Assistant Fire Chief. His experience also includes working part-time for the City of Boerne from 1996 through 2009 performing fire truck maintenance and fire code enforcement duties. Chief Kuhn holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Science and also holds certifications as a head of a fire department, master firefighter, master fire inspector, master fire investigator and Level II fire instructor from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. He is also a licensed paramedic and paramedic instructor through the Texas Department of State Health Services. Chief Kuhn has been married for 23 years and has two daughters with one of them in high school and the other in college. A native of the Texas hill country, his family is his first priority and he enjoys spending his free time traveling and fishing.
